Since Illinois created the Confidential Intermediary Service in 1990, hundreds of adoptees have used the program to find their birth families. And many birth parents have been able to reunite with their birth children.
This chart shows how CI program searches turned out over the past two years. In most cases, a birth relative was located and at least some information was exchanged. For many, the process resulted in a face-to-face reunion.
Of course some cases did not turn out as hoped and a positive outcome cannot be assured for your case. You can, however, be confident that your CI will use every available resource to attempt to identify and locate your relative.
